The Perfect Matcha Latte - Always!

Today, we're sharing how you can make a café-quality matcha latte right in your own kitchen - no fancy equipment needed, just a little care, a good whisk, and your favourite Honestea matcha.


What You'll Need:

  • 1–1½ teaspoons of Hana, Akari, or Kazune matcha (depending on how bold you like it)
  • 60ml hot water (around 70–80°C — not boiling!)
  • 150–200ml milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based - almond milk is our personal favourite)
  • A bamboo whisk (chasen) or small handheld frother
  • A small bowl for whisking
  • Your favourite mug / glass


Step-by-Step: Crafting Your Perfect Matcha Latte

1. Sift Your Matcha

Don't skip this step - sifting helps break up any clumps and ensures a silky smooth latte. Use a fine mesh strainer and gently sift your matcha powder into a bowl.

Pro tip: For a bolder latte, Hana or Akari are ideal. For a more elegant, umami-rich latte, reach for Kazune.

2. Add Water and Whisk

Pour about 60ml of hot (but not boiling) water over the matcha. Using your bamboo whisk, whisk vigorously in a zig-zag (M or W) motion until a frothy layer forms. If you’re using a frother, a quick 10–15 second buzz will do the trick.

3. Warm and Froth Your Milk

Gently heat your milk until warm but not boiling. Froth it if you like a cloud-like latte (highly recommended!).

4. Assemble

Pour your beautiful matcha into your favourite mug. Slowly add the steamed milk, holding back the foam with a spoon, and then finish by spooning the foam on top for that perfect café look.

5. Sip and Savour

Take a moment. Enjoy the aroma. Let the rich, comforting taste remind you why we call matcha a "hug in a cup."
